School Council

We are excited to share with you a new approach we are introducing across our academy trust to ensure that every child has a regular and meaningful opportunity to share their thoughts and experiences.

From after the October half term, we will be replacing our traditional school council model with a new system that gives every pupil from Year 1 upwards the chance to have their voice heard.

How will it work?

• Every two weeks, pupils will be asked a simple question about their school life, wellbeing, or safety — both in and out of school.
• Every child will be able to share their views confidentially.
• Responses will be reviewed electronically and key findings will be shared in assemblies that same week.
• If we identify areas of concern — for example, if many pupils say they don’t feel safe walking home — we will take action, including contacting relevant authorities and putting support in place.

Why are we doing this?

We want to make sure that every child, not just a few, has the chance to be heard. This new approach allows us to listen more widely, respond more quickly, and make changes that truly reflect the needs and experiences of our pupils. We aim to provide you with feedback in the regular newsletters. 

We believe this will help us create an even safer, happier, and more inclusive environment for all children.
